Blogpost # 2

  1. Blogpost, where we explain how we will use ISO 9241-210:2019 Ergonomics of human-system interaction in our project as well as what other ISO standards we can use and how we will use them.

The standard can be applied in all its 4 phases. We have Vincit as client and we are considering VR as technology to implement the solution. We haven’t met the client yet, but we plan to use the ISO9241-210:2019 standard as follows:
  • Phase 1: Understand and specify the context of use
First, we need to identify that our VR system can encompass the client and user requirements. We plan to use the design brief with the client to gather requirements and move towards the user study ( draft questionnaires and semi structured interviews)  we want to gain insights that support us to understand users, their mental models, their expectations about VR and its usage and know what is the best context of usage for VR according to user and evaluate it against what the customer has suggested.
  • Phase 2: Specify the usage requirements
From the data collected from user study we plan to create an affinity diagram with the themes we will find out from the interviews later, we will narrow down the themes to 3 themes. To narrow down the themes we will vote as a team for the most relevant themes. Once the themes will be selected, we can move to the next phase. If at this stage, we feel our themes are not appropriate we need to run phase 1 again.
  • Phase 3: Develop design solution that meets usage requirements
We will sketch a prototype that meets the requirements selected in phase 2, evaluate it with customer and few users , analyse the data, see what is feasible to iterate and modify according to the time available and we will move to prototype a semi functional prototype to use for the usability evaluation.
  • Phase 4: Evaluate design solution against usage requirements
We will prepare the test tasks, questionnaires and semi structured interview for the usability evaluation and we will test the prototype with at least 5 users following Nielsen´s principles of usability testing with no more than 5 users.
For this phase we need to find heuristics related to VR before writing the test tasks. We might test ergonomics and interactions if necessary.

2. Select a topic for your team assignment and look for technology related trends.

·What is on your trend map and why?

We have illustrated Virtual reality trends focusing on its technology and application genres and their possible future trends

·What did you consider to put on your trend map, but left out and why(reasoning)?
-

·What are the most potential trends for your work and why?

Our projects focus is on self-reflection and learning , in this light we found interesting that VR can be used for therapy and education.

·Is there something on your map that you are not going to use? Why are you not going to use this finding (reasoning)?

We are not making game and the actual technology that VR uses is relevant to us because we design for future and our aim is to do only prototype
