Blog Phase two

Blog Phase two

Final Product

Our concept for global employees in their 30´s is a VR solution with an AI integrated application that supports users to self-reflect and help them to learn soft skills as well as provide them with concrete help for technical problems encountered at work.

Hardware
Wireless lightweight head-mounted display (HMD) for virtual reality (VR).

Security and Privacy
The user authenticates through retinal scan as the first step in the application; we included this feature as safety was one of the concerns of our users together with data breach. For the same reason, the data shared (conversations) is encrypted.

Interaction modality

The technology correspond to technologies for 2030 in which VR will be integrated with AI and therefore, the interaction is based on visual output to the user and speech input/output. The user converses with the virtual coach (AI) throughout the conversation the AI detects the problems or challenges the user might be facing and it is able to suggest solutions from which the user can freely choose the best suitable option for him or her.

Input: speech
Output: speech and visual (options in VR)

User Task Description

The user had a bad day, doesn’t feel motivated, thus wants to self-reflect. He wants to improve his current sleeping patterns, he doesn´t understand why he is sleeping bad lately. The user puts on the VR headset, retinal verifies his identity, the user is logged in, a menu with different environments where to go to self-reflect appears, the virtual coach (AI) asks to the user “ where would you like to go?”,  the users says “ go to fire place”, the user is now in a cozy living room with a fireplace where he sits and starts to talk to the virtual coach, the user self-reflects why he can´t sleep.

2nd MVP evaluation
We evaluated the first VR prototype with one user to get feedback to fix details and make the prototype easy to follow. We fixed the scenes and blend them to the menus as demonstrated in the final prototype video.

Plan for further 2nd MVP evaluation
A usability evaluation is required of the VR prototype.
Candidate selection: 5 participants both males and females. The participants need to be from different countries as our user is “a global employee”, the age ranges from 30 to 33. Participants should not have vision issues as they will be wearing a VR headset.
Tasks for the evaluation:
  • User is presented with a scenario (walkthrough)
  • User wears VR headset;
  • Select environment where to go to self-reflect;
  • Begins conversation with virtual coach (AI);
  • Select one option among the options presented by the virtual coach
Metrics of evaluation:
  • System usability;
  • Comfort with speech interaction;
  • Clarity of visuals;
  • Clarity of speech;
  • Intuitiveness (how intuitive is to use the system)
  • UX goals in post usability test evaluation

Expected outcome

We would like to collect feedback to reiterate prototype through the usability test, evaluate our UX goals properly as remotely and through online surveys is not fully possible and collect further insights through post evaluation interview that might further support us in the development of the design solution or insights for future research.

Teamwork evaluation

The team worked very well together and shared the work evenly as well, we all were present always in all our meetings, interviewed users, worked on blogs, prototype and video. That is why we are having 5 points each.
